In memory of my nephew Charles "Bo" Jackson our family is committed to an unending relationship with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). In Charles' memory we participate in Light The Night Walks, Big D Climbs, and volunteer at various events.
In March 2017 I traveled to New York to complete my third marathon - this time with United Airlines NYC Half. Charlie’s battle with leukemia ended when he was only nineteen but in that time Charles enriched the lives of many with tremendous love, laughter, courage, and the most beautiful smile imaginable. It is with great honor that I participate in the LLS Team in Training program.
In the picture shown was my first half marathon in Washington. In my hands - which were there the whole run - are what our family calls "Love Rocks". While Charles was in the hospital whoever entered the room would have to paint or write on a rock to express their love. So in one hand is one that he painted and in the other is one that I painted. My Inspiration!!!
I thank Team in Training and LLS for giving me and outlet for the love that I carry for my nephew. THANK YOU!!!
